Licence terms

What you can and can’t do with BuiltBetter themes and plugins.

Last updated: October 2026. Draft for legal review before launch.

1. What you’re buying

A licence gives you the right to use a BuiltBetter product, receive its updates and get support for the period shown on the product page. Each order creates a licence key in your account.

2. Licence types

  • Lifetime: use on an unlimited number of websites, including sites you build for clients, with lifetime updates and support.
  • 1 Year: the same rights, with 12 months of updates and support, renewable each year. Layouts you have already imported keep working if you do not renew.

3. What you can do

  • Customise the product for your own or your clients’ websites.
  • Use a staging copy of a licensed site for testing.
  • Move a licence to a new site by deactivating it on the old one first.

4. What you can’t do

  • Resell, redistribute, share or publish the product files or your licence key, whether modified or not.
  • Include the product in a template kit, theme bundle or competing marketplace listing.
  • Use a licence after it has been refunded or revoked.

5. Open-source components

WordPress, Divi and parts of our code are licensed under the GNU General Public License. Your licence key governs updates, support and access to demo content and design assets. It does not restrict rights the GPL gives you over the code itself.

6. Updates and support

Licences include updates and support for 12 months from the purchase date. The product keeps working after that period.

7. Refunds

You can ask for a refund within 7 days of the purchase date. A refunded licence key is revoked. See the refund policy.

8. Trademarks

Divi is a trademark of Elegant Themes, Inc. BuiltBetter is not affiliated with Elegant Themes. You need your own Divi licence to use our products.
